Kingston-Area Path Of D&R Canal Park Closing Weekdays Through Mid-October (patch.com) — Residents who use the D&R Canal State Park path near Kingston should prepare for weekday closures from September 21 to October 16 while the trail is resurfaced. The section from Kingston Lock on Route 27 to the Millstone Aqueduct in nearby Plainsboro will be shut Monday through Thursday but remain open Fridays through Sundays, affecting many South Brunswick-area walkers and cyclists.
2. South Brunswick Firefighters Take Recruitment Message to Durga Temple (1strespondernews.com) — South Brunswick's volunteer fire service is stepping up recruitment by visiting Durga Mandir on Route 27 to talk directly with residents about joining. Volunteers from the Monmouth Junction, Kingston, and Kendall Park companies explained how the three departments protect the township and encouraged locals to consider serving in the all-volunteer South Brunswick Fire Service.
3. South Brunswick Council To Weigh Gas Compressor Fight, Bond Measures Wednesday (patch.com) — South Brunswick's Township Council is set to vote on funding its legal fight against a proposed natural gas compressor station and nearly $23 million in bond ordinances. Residents can attend Wednesday's meeting, speak during public comment, and hear updates on zoning, police qualifications, street weight limits, and local infrastructure and litigation matters.
4. Girls cross country honor roll, Sept. 16: Record-setting performance headlines Week 2 (nj.com subscription) — South Brunswick girls cross country runners Ovi Telavane and Natasha Kenny posted top senior and junior times at the Battle at Ocean County Park, helping South Brunswick record the fastest 5K team average in New Jersey this week. The statewide honor roll showcases how local athletes stack up against many of the state's best programs early in the season.
