SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick police have postponed Saturday's Child ID Day and "Cram the Cruiser" food drive because of the nor'easter expected to hit the area.
Both events have been moved to Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. They were originally set for Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Brunswick Municipal Building, 540 Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction. Read more: Free Child ID Cards, Food Drive Coming To South Brunswick Sept. 26
Families who already registered for Child ID Day will get an email about the change through SignUpGenius, police said.
At Child ID Day, parents can get a free identification card for their child that includes a photo, physical description, thumbprint and emergency response procedures. Families are asked to bring non-perishable food for the "Cram the Cruiser" drive, which benefits the South Brunswick Food Pantry.
The street dedication ceremony honoring Charles Arthur Wiggs will still take place Saturday at 10 a.m. as planned. Because of the weather, it has been moved from Roberts Street and Williams Street to Greenbrook School.
"Please stay safe and use caution during the expected inclement weather," the department said.
Several rounds of rain are expected from Friday night through Sunday night.
Up to 1.25 inches of rain will arrive Saturday, and up to an inch on Sunday, the NWS predicts.
Questions about Child ID Day can be directed to Detective Ryan Bartunek of the Community Policing Bureau at 732-329-4646, ext. 7476.
