A powerful nor'easter battered New Jersey from Friday, through Sunday. It flooded Shore towns, forced rescues at two Atlantic County motels and tore the roof off a Sussex County YMCA. Below are the headlines you may have missed from the weekend in New Jersey:
Emergency crews rescued nine adults and a dog from the Travel Inn and New Sea Breeze motels in the West Atlantic City section of Egg Harbor Township around 9 a.m. Saturday, 6abc reported. Police said 2 to 3 feet of water filled the first-floor rooms. Crews also found a small fire in one room during a second search of the buildings. No injuries were reported.
Friday night's high winds tore the metal roof off the YMCA on Wits End Road in Hardyston, forcing the branch to close all weekend. Crews have been working on the damage since. The collapsed metal roof was removed by Sunday morning, and the YMCA was green-lit by officials to resume operations on Monday morning, according to representatives.

A dogfish shark was seen swimming through flooded streets in Surf City on Saturday. It moved up a resident's driveway before heading toward Barnegat Bay, according to video from ABC News.
A sailboat that broke free during the storm spent hours slamming into Keyport's waterfront promenade. It tore out sections of railing and wrecked the Keyport Princess fishing charter's dock, taking out its freezers, electrical service and water lines, NJ.com reported. The borough closed American Legion Drive, the Mini Park and the promenade on Sunday while officials assessed the damage.
The roof of the Stone Pony's Summer Stage in Asbury Park was torn apart Saturday night. In Cape May, The Lobster House's dining room flooded and the restaurant closed Sunday. The Beach House Restaurant on Long Beach Island took on about 5 inches of water. Nearly 24,000 customers statewide were without power as of 2 p.m. Sunday, NJ.com reported.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill delayed the opening of state offices until 11 a.m. Monday, and courts statewide will also open at 11 a.m. MVC customers whose appointments were canceled can bring their cancellation notice for walk-in service from Sept. 29 through Oct. 14. Several coastal school districts canceled or delayed classes Monday, New Jersey 101.5 reported.
