Are Edison and South Brunswick Storage Break-Ins Linked?, Police Ask
Edison police are investigating whether a Rt. 1 burglary is connected to a break-in last week of 50 self-storage units on Oak Tree Road.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - On Wednesday, Patch reported on the break-in of 43 storage units at the Public Storage facility on Rt. 1 in Monmouth Junction.
And now on Thursday, Edison police are investigating to see if that is connected to a break-in last week of 50 self-storage units on Oak Tree Road.
Owners of J&M Self Storage, on Oak Tree Road in Edison Township, told Officer Dmitri Smolkin that burglars broke into more than 50 storage units in two buildings on the premises, prying open locks on each unit. It was an overnight burglary that was discovered on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 11, Edison police said.

This week, police in South Brunswick reported that 43 units at a Rt. 1 self-storage facility were similarly burglarized, and those overnight break-ins were discovered early Wednesday, police there said.
“Given the similarities and time frame, of course we are examining any potential connections between these incidents, and working cooperatively with South Brunswick,” said Capt. Anthony Marcantuono, head of Edison’s Special Operations Group.
