Arrest Made in 4 South Brunswick Home Break-Ins

Suspect may have entered through unlocked garage doors, back doors and unlocked first-floor windows, all while residents slept upstairs.

South Brunswick, NJ - South Brunswick police arrested the person who they say entered several unlocked homes in the township in June and stole purses and wallets — all while residents were sleeping.

The suspect entered homes through sliding glass doors that had been left unlocked, unlocked windows or unlocked garage doors, police said.

"These cases were a top priority for our department," said South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka. "In June there were four cases where suspects entered unlocked homes and stole purses and wallets."

"Detectives have made an arrest in the case, but it is an active investigation and we are withholding additional information as we continue to seek other persons of interest," Chief Hayducka added.

Patch reported on three of the overnight burglaries, with the most recent on Friday night, June 10. That occurred on Barbara Street in the Brunswick Acres development. Sometime between 10 p.m. Friday when the residents went to sleep, and 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning, someone entered an unlocked rear sliding door and stole a purse and wallet that had been sitting on the kitchen counter.

Earlier, a resident from Warren Court reported someone entered their home while they were sleeping and stole a wallet and a purse. The homeowner said they often leave their garage doors open or unlocked, and they think that's how the person got inside. And homeowners on Brook Drive West also reported that while they were sleeping the suspects entered through a rear first floor unlocked window and stole a pocketbook.
