Brunswick Acres Elementary School in Kendall Park is the home of the "Students with Autism" program in the South Brunswick school district. On Wednesday, April 2nd, the school commemorated Autism Awareness Day with a heart-warming annual assembly program. Students and staff wore blue in support of students with autism, the goal being to raise awareness and create acceptance of children and adults with autism spectrum disorder. The assembly, spearheaded by Special Education teachers Amanda Sheehan and Jill Beck, featured a video montage to the song "Roar" and live singing by Brunswick Acres' talented Chamber Singers. Perhaps the most exciting part though was when the lights were dimmed and students waved their blue glow bracelets in unison (which were provided by the school's PTO organization) as a symbol of their support for World Autism Awareness Month.
