South Brunswick Police are looking for the public's assistance in identifying the woman who used a child to steal a woman's wallet.
According to South Brunswick Police:
South Brunswick Police are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying the woman who used a child to steal a woman’s wallet from a shopping cart at Target on Route 1.
Police were called to the Target at around 4PM on January 10, 2015 after a customer realized her purse wallet was stolen from her shopping cart. Target loss prevention and police reviewed surveillance video of the incident and discovered that a child reached into the shopping cart, grabbed the wallet and gave it to her mother.

The victim had placed her wallet in the top of the shopping cart and was looking at greeting cards. Police believe the mother bumped the cart away from the victim.
The child who appears to be around 5 years of age then goes up to the top portion of the shopping cart and takes the wallet while leaving behind two DVDs. The child walks towards the mother who takes the wallet. The mother then walks a short distance to another woman and both walk out of the store with two children behind them. Both suspects left shopping carts with items in them in the aisle and proceeded to walk out without buying anything. The mother then took the wallet from the child.

Minutes later the victim’s credit cards were used at nearby Quaker Bridge Mall. Suspect # 1 (Mother) is described as a female in her mid to late 30’s, heavyset.Suspect #2 (Other woman) is described as a black female in her early 20’s.Both women left in a tan or gray older model 4 door Lexus SUV.The victim lost $40 dollars in cash and the Louis Vuitton Clutch wallet valued at over a thousand dollars.Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call Detective Eric Tighelaar (732) 329-4000 ext. 7486
