Carley Sworn In As South Brunswick Mayor For Another Consecutive Term
Charles Carley was first appointed mayor in 2018 following the death of then-mayor Christopher Killmurray.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – Reelected mayor Charles Carley was sworn into office recently. Former township manager, Bernard Hvozdovic administered the oath of office to Carley who was accompanied by his wife Christine. Hvozdovic is currently Municipal Administrator in Princeton.
In the mayoral race, Carley beat Republican Mike Havardansky. He received 9, 106 votes and Havardansky earned 4,143 votes.
In attendance were County Clerk Nancy Pinkin, County Commissioner Charlie Kenny, Assemblyman-emeritus Upendra Chivukula, North Brunswick Mayor Francis 'Mac' Womack, South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka, South Brunswick Manager Bryan Bidlack, and former Board of Education members Harry Delgado and Joyce Mehta.

During his comments, Carley thanked residents for their support. He thanked the township's workforce for their efforts in ensuring South Brunswick remains a “great place to live, to retire, and to raise a family.”
Carley served as a council from 2005 to 2018. He was first appointed mayor in 2018 following the death of then-mayor Christopher Killmurray. Carely was elected later that year.

Since 1997, he has served on various boards and commissions including the Planning Board, Zoning Board, Environmental Commission and Open Space Committee.
A civil engineer by profession, Carley is president of Delaware-Raritan Engineering.
