The township ranked at No 20, ahead of neighboring Princeton (21).
“This recognition is a result of a constant effort by our department and community to ensure the safety of everyone. Most importantly we work in cooperation and support of the community to address any issues and problems at the earliest stages,” Hayducka said.

The police chief said the department communicates regularly with the community on any patterns or trends in crimes.
“Our partnerships with the community is the key to the success of the agency. None of this would be possible without the support of the Mayor, Council, and Township Manager Bernard Hvozdovic,” he said.
The Moneygeek study was done at a time of great upheaval due to the pandemic, social unrest and politics.
Many of these reasons contributed to Americans fleeing bigger cities for smaller towns, especially as COVID-19 surged.
For their study, Moneygeek analyzed crime statistics and calculated the cost of crime. They used data from FBI's yearly Uniform Crime Report which included violent crimes like murder and sexual assault, and burglaries and car theft.
According to the report, the violent crime rate in South Brunswick was 36.9, while the property crime rate was 551.7.
“It takes a team to address the quality of life and crime challenges that face all communities. I want to thank all the men and women of the South Brunswick Police Department for their dedication and commitment to our community,” said Hayducka.
Four New Jersey towns — Marlboro Township (6), Bridgewater Township (7), Fair Lawn (8) and Monroe Township (10) — ranked in the top 10 safest places to live, while Camden, NJ (5) was rated among the top 10 most dangerous places in the country.
