dfree® Financial Freedom Movement Joins Women Of Excellence Conference in New Orleans

dfree® Founder DeForest B. Soaries, Jr. and a team of dfree® experts participate in Pastor Debra B. Morton's 30th WOE conference

Offering practical skills for eliminating debt and building wealth, dfree® Founder DeForest B. Soaries, Jr. and a team of dfree® experts will participate in the 30th Women of Excellence conference hosted by Debra B. Morton, senior pastor of Greater St. Stephen Full Baptist Church. Soaries speaks on Feb. 8, 2017 and dfree® sessions and workshops run Feb. 9 &10 during the conference that takes place Feb. 8-11, 2017 at Greater St. Stephen, 5600 Read Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70127.

“Pastor Morton has inspired and empowered thousands of women through WOE and we’re excited to join this powerful gathering because we understand how deeply women want to achieve personal financial success while joining a movement that seeks to achieve economic justice in America,” Soaries said. “But since statistics show that 80 percent of women report not talking about finances with the people to whom they are closest yet 60 percent of women worry they won’t have enough money for retirement, we need to bring our dfree® message of hope and reach women where they are.”

America’s consumer debt is $3.4 trillion and the average American household balance-carries $16,048 in debt. [1] The average American today holds 52% more debt today than they did a decade ago.1 Some 46 percent of adults say they either could not cover an emergency expense costing $400, or would cover it by selling something or borrowing money.3 Groups who are in particular need of economic justice include entrepreneurs, millennials and women.

“I am focused like a laser on helping people from every background, particularly African Americans, pay our bills as we go, get away from those high-cost credit cards, pay our bills on time, avoid using late fees as an excuse to pay our bills late, and then to live within our means,” Soaries recently said, in a dfree® video message, of his passion to help others realize financial freedom and economic justice. After Soaries’ own church started participating in dfree®, during the height of the 2008 recession, church giving increased by more than $1 million. Through books, conferences, training, support and motivation, dfree® helps individuals focus on the root causes of their financial woes, take practical measures to build better financial habits, and then give back to others.

About the WOE Conference: The Women of Excellence conference was birthed by Debra B. Morton in 1987 as a result of wanting a place for women to come together to pray, to worship and to ultimately develop a deeper relationship with God. As WOE has grown and developed throughout the years, it is a tremendous blessing to come back together to reconnect and celebrate ‘we are grown’ women now.

About dfree®: Founded in 2005, the dfree® financial freedom movement is a transformational, lifestyle movement that promotes financial freedom through values-based principles and practical approaches to financial management. dfree® addresses the cultural, psychological and spiritual influences on financial wellness. In the tradition of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., dfree® also is a movement to help achieve economic justice in America. Rev. Dr. King once said, “We must never let it be said that we spend more for the evanescent and ephemeral than for the eternal values of freedom and justice.” dfree® emphasizes controlling money matters so that individuals have the freedom to focus on more purposeful pursuits. Let’s Move Forward Together.

dfree® was featured by CNN in a 90minute documentary, “Almighty Debt,” an installment of the “Black in America” series, hosted by Soledad O’Brien. The dfree® strategy is being used by hundreds of churches, organizations and individuals worldwide.
