South Brunswick 2022 Election: Who's On The Ballot, Where To Vote

The general election is Tuesday. Check out our voter guide before you head out to cast your ballot.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The 2022 general election is just around the corner. Middlesex County has given South Brunswick residents many options to turn in their ballots. Here’s what you need to know about voting in the township.

Who's On The Ballot

Mayor Charlie Carley, who has been in office since 2018, will take on the Republican nominee Michael Havardansky. Councilman Kenneth Bierman is seeking reelection and will face Republican candidate John J. Anthony.

Meanwhile, six candidates are running for three seats on the South Brunswick Board of Education.The candidates are Joyce Mehta, Raymond Keuhner, James Lavan, Julie Ferrara, Laura Hernandez and Alisha Khan.

South Brunswick voters will also get to cast a ballot for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. In the 12th district, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman is facing a challenge from Republican candidate Darius Mayfield.

HOW TO VOTE

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. There are three ways to turn in your ballot for the 2022 general election.

Vote By Mail: All registered voters are eligible to request a vote-by-mail ballot. If you would like to receive your ballot by mail, you must request your ballot not less than seven days before an election. Voters may apply for a mail-in ballot in person or by authorized messenger at the Office of the County Clerk in New Brunswick up to 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 (the day before the election).

Voters can mail the ballot through the United States Postal Service. All ballots must be postmarked on or before 8 p.m. Nov. 8, and received by the County Board of Elections by 8 p.m. on November 17. They can also take it directly to the Board of Elections’ Office, 11 Kennedy Boulevard, East Brunswick before 8 p.m. on Nov. 8. Mail-in ballots can also be dropped in a designated Middlesex County Board of Elections drop box by 8 p.m. Nov. 8.

.The secured mail-in ballot drop box in South Brunswick is located at:

  • South Brunswick Municipal Building, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction (Drop box located in front of main building to the right of visitor parking)
  • South Brunswick Community Center, Woodlot Park, 124 New Road, Monmouth Junction (Drop box located at walkway to front entrance.)

Early In-Person Voting: New Jersey passed a law in 2021 that allows residents to vote early during a nine-day period before Election Day. For the 2022 general election, the early voting period ended on Nov. 6.

Vote In-Person On Election Day: The 2022 general election takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find your polling location, click here.

Provisional ballots will be available at the polling location in the event that the mail-in ballots were not received and the registered voter would like to vote in this election.
