With Eye On Infrastructure, South Brunswick Announces Road Improvement Projects
The projects are part of South Brunswick's annual Road and Capital Improvement Program.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The township on Monday announced it was undertaking various infrastructure maintenance programs. These road improvement projects are part of South Brunswick’s annual Road and Capital Improvement Program.
The projects are in the Timber Ponds and Fresh Impressions developments, as well as New Road from Wheeler Road to Hodge Road as part of Phase 1 (Hodge Road to Route 27 as part of Phase 2 will be completed in 2024), Williams Road, Roberts Street, and Parsons Road, as well as improvements at the CR 522 and Route 130 intersection.
“One of the key roles for local government is to ensure proper maintenance of public infrastructure. In South Brunswick, we take this responsibility seriously and that is why each year, we do a Townshipwide assessment, establish a priority list, and then based on our current budget, allocate funding to address a portion of our infrastructure improvement needs on an ongoing basis,” Councilman Ken Bierman said.

“For too many communities, infrastructure improvements get short changed due to budgetary constraints, and that is why we believe that addressing this a little bit each year, allows us keep up with our needs and ensure that delay does not cause an unnecessary hardship to our Township taxpayers.”
The Capital Budget, is approved as a separate budget and is funded through bonds which covers a wide range of infrastructure needs such as road improvement, water and sewer improvements, along with public building and park construction and related maintenance.

Deputy Mayor Joe Camarota said South Brunswick address public infrastructure needs through a data driven approach.
“Our residents understand that it is important to keep up with this work to ensure public safety, the quality provision of local services and the maintenance of local property values,” Camarota said.
“While road improvements, in some cases result in temporary inconveniences such as road closures and limited parking, each year, residents living in areas where those improvements occur, are quite pleased with the result, and are always complimentary of the professional and efficient way that our Township employees carry out these projects and work with local residents to minimize any disruptions.”
Residents should contact the Department of Public Works if they have questions on the schedule or any query related to the work.
