Woman, Dog Escape Kendall Park Fire Sunday Night
Breaking: Heard the sirens last night? A fire broke out in the kitchen of a home on Kendall Road at 10:50 p.m.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A fire broke out Sunday night in the kitchen of a Kendall Road home, according to South Brunswick police, and a woman and her dog were in the home at the time. One local firefighter suffered minor injuries extinguishing the blaze.
Police got a 911 call at 10:53 p.m. Sunday from a resident who observed flames in her Kendall Road kitchen.
“Firefighters arrived quickly and made an aggressive attack to keep the fire contained mainly to the kitchen," said Kendall Park Fire Chief Robert Cioffi. "It took about 10 minutes to bring the fire under control.”

The woman and her dog made it out of the home safely, but had to stay with friends because of the extensive smoke and water damage. These photos from the scene were supplied by South Brunswick police.

In all, 55 firefighters responded to the fire from the Kendall Park, Monmouth Junction, Kingston, North Brunswick and Griggstown fire departments, which are all volunteer. The Kendall Park First Aid Squad also responded.

The fire is under investigation by the South Brunswick Fire Marshal’s Office, but is not suspicious. There was one minor injury to a firefighter.
