Franklin Dad Must Pay $35K For Sending Kids To South Brunswick Schools

The South Brunswick school system actually did surveillance, observing his Monmouth Junction rental property 27 times and finding it vacant.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — It would appear the South Brunswick school system is indeed desirable.

A Franklin Township father who sent his three children to South Brunswick public schools has been ordered by the state to pay $35,000 to the district, according to this report.

The father claimed he lived in Monmouth Junction and even showed the state a copy of his lease for a rental apartment there. However, after South Brunswick hired an investigator, the state Department of Education determined that the family actually lived in Franklin Township for the 2015-2016 school year.

It was actually South Brunswick school system that launched the investigation. The district conducted surveillance at his Monmouth Junction rental. For 27 visits, there was no activity at the apartment, the district said. But on 28 occasions, the investigator saw the man's cars parked outside his Franklin home. Those same cars would then drop his kids off at school the next day.

One of his children went to South Brunswick High School, and the other two attended middle school in the blue-ribbon South Brunswick school district.
