Gov. Murphy Attends Eid Celebrations At South Brunswick Mosque
Worshippers gathered at the Islamic Society of Central Jersey on Monday to celebrate Eid.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — After a month of prayers and fasting, members of the Islamic Society of Central Jersey celebrated Eid at the mosque on Monday.
Muslims around the world marked the end of Ramadan with the appearance of the crescent moon.
Gov. Phil Murphy and South Brunswick Mayor Charlie Carley were present for the celebrations.

“It’s good to be back and say with great passion Eid Mubarak,” Murphy said.
“This is a day of celebration. It's a day we look back on sacrifice and reflections of the past several weeks, in the great tradition of Ramadan.”

Mayor Carley presented a Ramadan proclamation to the community at the mosque.
Worshippers gathered at the mosque at 8 a.m. for prayers. New Jersey is home to one of the largest Muslim populations in America and has over 100 mosques.
