Homework Free Nights For South Brunswick Students

The district hopes to give students the opportunity to explore hobbies, enjoy outdoor activities and spend time with family.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — With the school year beginning remotely in South Brunswick, the district is looking to make remote learning enjoyable and stress-free for students.

To this end, the school district has introduced homework free nights.

The idea of homework free nights is to give students time off from doing their homework, projects and studying for tests. It will offer students an opportunity to explore hobbies and topics they are passionate about. They’ll also get to spend time with family and enjoy outdoor activities.

According to a report by USA Today, since students began distance learning when the pandemic began, they’ve reported erratic sleep schedules and other mental health issues.

“There is tremendous value in engaging in meaningful homework assignments that reinforce concepts and skills taught during the school day. At the same time, there are times when we need to collectively have a break from the responsibilities of homework and enjoy time with family and friends,” the district's website said.
