Kingston Business to Donate Portion of Sales in April to University Medical Center at Princeton

Tuscan Hills LLC, importers of exclusive home furnishings and accessories will donate 10 percent of all sales between April 7 and May 12, to UMCP's Level II Special Care Nursery.

Two area businesses and a local school will launch exciting fundraising efforts in April on behalf of University Medical Center at Princeton (UMCP) and the Princeton HealthCare System Foundation.

Tuscan Hills LLC, importers of exclusive home furnishings and accessories, located at 4428 Route 27, Kingston, will donate 10 percent of all sales between April 7 and May 12, 2011, to UMCP's Level II Special Care Nursery, which provides skilled and sensitive management of high-risk pregnancies, as well as outstanding care for newborns. This generous effort is inspired by a touching personal story.

In 2002, Tuscan Hill owners Suzanne and Greg Evans learned that they were expecting twin girls. As the pregnancy progressed, one daughter was hindered by intrauterine growth restriction, which gradually began to limit her growth. Six weeks before Sue’s due date, an emergency c-section was required.

In light of the high-risk pregnancy, Sue and Greg had to decide, in conjunction with their obstetrician, which among the area hospitals to deliver the twins. After evaluating a number of options, and learning about the specialized, hands-on care provided by the Level II Special Care Nursery at UMCP, the couple decided to bring their daughters into the world at UMCP. On April 7, 2003, the 21Ž2-pound and 31Ž2-pound little girls were delivered and moved immediately into the Level II Special Care Nursery, where they remained for five weeks.

“The 'Tuscan Hills Gives Back’ benefit, from April 7 to May 12, honors the doctors and nurses at UMCP’s Level II Special Care Nursery and commemorates the five weeks that our twin daughters spent there after their birth on April 7, 2003,” says Sue Evans. “This is our way of celebrating our daughters’ eighth birthday on April 7 and saying thank you to all of the doctors and nurses who cared for us. Under the direction of Dr. Brigitte Mihalyfi, the girls were handled with intensive, incredibly skilled care during their stay in the Level II Special Care Nursery.”

In addition to the Tuscan Hills benefit, Princeton HealthCare System (PHCS) Foundation is pleased to announce that, during the entire month of April, New York Delicatessen and Restaurant, 3331 Route One, Lawrenceville, will donate 10 percent of its proceeds to the Foundation.

New York Deli’s co-owner, Leonard Punia, is a major supporter of the PHCS having made a generous gift of $1.35 million in 2009 to the Foundation’s Design for Healing campaign, which is raising funds for construction of the new University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro.

The third benefit during April in support of UMCP is a children’s Dance Marathon, “Kids Bopping for Kids,” on Saturday, April 16. This event, hosted by the Princeton Junior School and Community Connection of Princeton HealthCare (formerly the Auxiliary), will be held at the Princeton Junior School campus at 90 Fackler Road, Lawrenceville, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 16.

“We are very grateful for the continued support of local businesses and organizations. The equipment and resources such donations provide make a real difference, enabling us to deliver outstanding care to all our patients,” says Joseph Stampe, Vice President of Development at Princeton HealthCare System Foundation. “PHCS strives to be at the heart of the local community. The incredible generosity of community partners like Tuscan Hills, NY Deli and Princeton Junior School is inspiring.”
