Man Fatally Struck By NJ State Police Vehicle In South Brunswick
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The incident is being investigated by the County Prosecutor's office.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A pedestrian was fatally struck in South Brunswick by a New Jersey State Police vehicle early on Thursday morning, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said.
On Thursday morning, around 5:55 a.m. officers from the South Brunswick Police Department responded to the southbound lane of Route 1 near Raymond Road, on reports of a collision involving a marked New Jersey State Police vehicle driven by a trooper and a male pedestrian.
On arrival, authorities found a male pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene, Ciccone said. His identity is pending confirmation.

Following a notification from the South Brunswick Police, detectives of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office responded and assumed control of the scene, Ciccone said.
Route 1 was closed for over 6 hours Thursday morning, following the incident. This is the second pedestrian-involved crash in South Brunswick this week. A pedestrian was struck on New Road near the Kendall Park Fire House on Monday morning.
