SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Last year, the South Brunswick School District was awarded a grant by the state to run a full-day preschool program.

The program began earlier this year and on June 8, the district appointed its first-ever preschool principal.

The Board unanimously approved the appointment of Megan Plummer as the first preschool principal in the school district.

Plummer has been an employee at the district for 24 years. She spent 13 years as a teacher at Indian Fields Elementary School and 11 years as Supervisor of Special Education.

Introducing Plummer’s appointment, Superintendent Scott Feder said Plummer “took it upon herself” to help establish the district’s preschool program.

“Over the course of the last six months, Megan has been the rock of the preschool program. So, when the opportunity came for us to be able to appoint a principal with the finances from the state, we were thrilled that Megan was interested,” Feder said.

“She went through a process and had to still prove she was the best candidate.”

Thanking the Board, community and the Superintendent for the opportunity, Plummer said she is privileged to have been able to grow professionally in South Brunswick for the past 24 years.

“I’m extremely excited to begin this new journey full of promise, endless possibilities for our youngest and most inquisitive learners,” Plummer said.

“I count myself as a student advocate and I put that first. So I’m really excited to lead my staff, work with families and the community, to really just set a firm foundation for our youngest learners.”
