Muslims in Central Jersey packed over 6,000 meals for the needy/elderly at Islamic Society of Central Jersey.

The Islamic Society of Central Jersey, along with our Muslim community and Muslims Against Hunger, came together to make meals for the needy/elderly on Christmas Eve. We would like to extend a special thank YOU to everyone who came out to participate in helping with this effort. We were able to make 6,480 meals. These pre-packed food would be delivered to the elderly who are needy in the surrounding communities to Muslims and Non-Muslims.
Thank you to Zamir Hassan and the Hunger Van for all their efforts in providing a source for the communities to come together to feed the needy, the hungry, the homeless and/or the elderly.
This past Thanksgiving we made over 10,000 meals and our goal is to continue this on a monthly basis. If you would like to join us, please look out for the Facebook event, click here for the link and sign up, using the sign up link (which will be on the event). We try to do it on the fourth Saturday of every month to be consistent. Everyone is welcome to join us, people of all faith or no faith. Hunger has no religion. However, our religion teaches us that we should not go to bed if our neighbor is hunger.

There's a real issue with hunger in the United States alone, and it cannot be ignored. We all need to come together to do our part. We, as Muslims, have an obligation to do our part to eliminate hunger and to take care of the poor. We take that obligation very seriously, as it is part of our faith. We love the fact that our community comes out with their kids so they can also participate. What better way to teach your kids to do good deeds than doing it with them.
