New Acting Mayor Appointed in South Brunswick
Deputy Mayor Christopher Killmurray will serve as acting mayor until an election for the job is held in November.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - With the death of longtime South Brunswick mayor Frank Gambatese last month, Deputy Mayor Christopher Killmurray was appointed to serve as acting mayor at Tuesday night's Council meeting. Killmurray was nominated and chosen by his fellow members on the South Brunswick Township Council.
He will serve in the role until the November election. Killmurray, 54, is a resident of the Dayton section of South Brunswick. He works as a lawyer with Hoagland Longo law firm in New Brunswick. He is a member of the township library's board of trustees, is a longtime member of the Woodbridge Irish-American Association and is a member of the VFW Post 9111 in Kendall Park, according to NJ.com.
Killmurray thanked his fellow Councilmembers for appointing him.

"I will need it," he said. "I'm going to do the best I can."
The South Brunswick Township Council, which is all Democrat, now has 15 days to come up with three candidates to fill Killmurray's seat. The council then chooses from those three, according to NJ.com.
