North Brunswick Train Station Project Moves Closer to Construction
The project has reached 60 percent design completion and is advancing to the final engineering stage, the county said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The planned North Brunswick train station has reached 60 percent design completion and received approval from NJ Transit to move into the final engineering phase, the Middlesex County Improvement Authority said Tuesday.
The authority, which has managed the project since 2020, said NJ Transit approved the design milestone and authorized the agency to proceed with Phase 3 — final engineering and design — which will push the project toward 90 percent completion and construction drawings.
"With each milestone, construction drawings become refined and finalized to bring this a step closer to getting shovels in the ground," James Polos, the authority's executive director, said in a statement. "Our construction drawings depict items such as passenger platforms, the overhead pedestrian bridges, foundation elements, steel connections, and methods of structural support.”

“With the MCIA leading the North Brunswick Train Station, they have been able to streamline a very complicated and cumbersome approval process,” Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios said. “Collaboration continues amongst all partners as we expeditiously move towards 90% design completion. Each milestone brings this vital transportation project a step closer to construction.”
The project has $50 million in funding from the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund. WSP USA is the contracted design and engineering firm. No construction timeline has been announced.
North Brunswick Mayor Francis M. Womack said the township is seeking additional funding from federal and state sources to move the project forward.
