'Operation Safe Schools' To Begin Next Week In South Brunswick
The police department will have enhanced presence at all schools and increased traffic enforcement in school zones.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — With students ready to go back to classrooms on Sept. 6, the South Brunswick Police Department is all set to begin “Operation Safe Schools.” This is the 15th year of the initiative.
Under the program, South Brunswick Police Department will have enhanced presence at all Township schools and increased traffic enforcement in school zones.
“We will have officers at every school to start each day to assist in any way possible,” Chief Raymond Hayducka said.

“We have tremendous partnerships with the South Brunswick School District and our private schools in the township.”

- Pay attention to all traffic signals and/or the crossing guard – never cross the street against a light, even if you don’t see any traffic coming
- Always walk on the sidewalk (where provided), otherwise walk facing traffic.
- Walk with a friend(s)
- Wear reflective material… it makes you more visible to street traffic
- Never run out from between cars
Drivers:
- Be mindful of students and drive with caution in school zones
- Watch for school bus stop arms and stop when they are present
- Allow extra time for your morning commute
- Be mindful of added traffic around schools
- Be aware of extra pedestrian traffic
- Yield to students or pedestrians in crosswalks
