In-Person BOE Candidate Forum To Be Held In South Brunswick Thursday

A "Meet the Candidate" forum will be held Thursday evening. Six candidates have filed petitions to run for three seats on the BOE.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The elections are just around the corner and it’s time to get to know the candidates running for a seat on the Board of Education.

South Brunswick Cares About Schools (SBCARES) will be hosting the annual “Meet the Candidate Night” on Thursday. The event will be held at the South Brunswick Board of Education office on Black Horse Lane.

The forum begins at 6:30 p.m.

This will be an in-person event for South Brunswick residents only. It will also be live streamed on the SBCARES Facebook page and available through election day.

Residents who wish to ask questions to the candidates should forward them to SBCARES123@gmail.com. Other questions will be drawn from the audience in attendance.

Six candidates have filed petitions to run for three seats on the Board of Education.

Incumbents Raymond Kuehner and Joyce Mehta will be running for reelection. Current member Joseph Scaletti is not seeking reelection.

Others who filed nominations are Julie Ferrara running under the slogan “Education For Success,” Laura Hernandez, Alisha Khan and James Lavan whose slogan is “Protect Our Children.”

Update: Julie Ferrara and Joyce Mehta did not respond to the invitation to participate and James Lavan canceled his participation on Monday morning, organizers said.
