Preschool Program To Begin Jan. 17 In South Brunswick School District

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick’s preschool expansion program will begin on Jan. 17, 2023 ,for currently enrolled students.

“Our proposed plan to the NJDOE is to serve close to 800 preschool students over the next 5 years,” Superintendent Scott Feder told the community in a letter. “The additional students will gradually be added to our preschool program every year.”

The school district's long-term plan will include partnering with local licensed childcare centers to help expand quality preschool for community students.

Families of 3-and 4-year-old children, that are not currently enrolled in the preschool program, can expect additional seats to be available, Feder said.

“Priority will be made to serve the neediest of students in the community with free, full-day preschool services,” Feder said.

In September, the state announced $26 million to expand access to preschools in some school districts. The state funding comes as experts say New Jersey lacks enough access to quality, affordable child care — an issue the pandemic worsened.
