Primary Election In South Brunswick: When, Where To Vote

The New Jersey Primary Election is on June 6. Here's where and how to cast your ballot:

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – Primary Election day in New Jersey is June 6, and voters have various options to cast their ballots.

Primary elections allow voters who are registered to a political party, such as the Democratic Party or Republican Party, to select the candidates who will represent their party in the November General Election.

There are no contested elections for Mayor, Council or Board in South Brunswick. Residents will be voting for County Commissioners, Senate and Assembly seats. Click here for the sample ballot.

Residents have multiple options for casting their ballots in the June 2023 Primary Election. They include mailing ballots through the United States Postal Service (USPS); dropping a ballot in any secure drop box across the County; three days of in-person early voting at any early vote locations in the County; or voting in person on Primary Election Day, June 6

Unaffiliated registered voters may choose to vote in either the Democratic Primary Election or the Republican Primary Election. If voting in person, either early or on Primary Election Day, an unaffiliated voter will declare their party affiliation at the polls before voting in the Primary Election.

Due to new state law, only registered Democratic and Republican voters are eligible to receive a mail-in ballot for the Primary Election.

“With multiple ways to cast your vote, from early in-person voting and Vote by Mail options to traditional Primary Election Day in-person voting, Middlesex County is committed to making it as convenient as possible for residents to participate in democracy. Voters should avail themselves of the option that best fits their needs,” Middlesex County Clerk Nancy J. Pinkin said.

Voters may apply for a Mail-In Ballot in person or by authorized messenger at the Office of the County Clerk in New Brunswick up to 3 pm on Monday, June 5.

Voters can choose one of the following options to return their Mail-In ballot:

  • Mail the ballot through the United States Postal Service. Mail-In Ballots must be postmarked on or before 8 pm on Primary Election Day, Tuesday, June 6.
  • Take it directly to the Board of Elections’ Office, 11 Kennedy Boulevard, East Brunswick before 8 pm on Primary Election Day, Tuesday, June 6.
  • Drop the ballot in a designated Middlesex County Board of Elections drop box by 8 pm on June 6.

Here’s a list of drop boxes in South Brunswick:

  • South Brunswick Municipal Building, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction
  • South Brunswick Community Center (Woodlot Park), 124 New Road, Monmouth Junction

EARLY IN-PERSON VOTING

In-person early voting will open Friday, June 2 through Sunday, June 4. Hours will be Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Early Voting in South Brunswick will be held at the Community Center (Woodlot Park) 124 New Road, Monmouth Junction.

Vote-By-Mail Ballots cannot be returned to in-person early voting polling locations or Primary Election Day polling locations.

IN-PERSON VOTING ON PRIMARY ELECTION DAY

In-person voting is available to all registered voters. Voters who have not requested a Mail-In Ballot may vote in person at their assigned polling place on June 6. Click here to find your assigned polling location.

Voters who received a Mail-In Ballot but do not return their ballot may still vote in person by provisional ballot at their assigned polling place on June 6.

Polls in New Jersey will be open from 6 am to 8 pm on Primary Election Day.
