Princeton Packet For Sale, Publisher Set to Retire

The Princeton Packet, Inc. is for sale and longtime publisher Jim Kilgore says he plans to retire, according to an article posted on CentralJersey.com Thursday. 

The company is headquartered on Witherspoon Street in Princeton. 

"Ideally, I would like to sell this business to another local owner who will have that same dedication to the community and quality news coverage as our family has strived for over the years," Kilgore wrote in an article published at 5:01 p.m.

The Princeton Packet, which publishes the South Brunswick Post, has been in the Kilgore family for 56 years, since Jim Kilgore's father, Barney Kilgore, bought it and expanded it.

Jim Kilgore has been with the company for 37 years. 

The Packet publishes 17 community newspapers, a magazine and several of local news websites, Kilgore wrote.

Kilgore said in his article that the company has more than 100 employees who are in place and ready for a new owner. 

Kilgore could not immediately be reached for comment.
