Raccoon Dies Of Rabies In South Brunswick Backyard
Last Thursday, Oct. 4 someone's dog uncovered a dead raccoon in the backyard of a home near Georges Rd. and Debra Dr. in South Brunswick.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Last Thursday, Oct. 4 a South Brunswick resident's dog uncovered a dead raccoon in their backyard in the vicinity of Georges Road and Debra Drive, police announced.
The homeowner called police and South Brunswick Animal Control responded; the raccoon was turned over to the New Jersey Department of Health Laboratory. The State Laboratory reported Tuesday that the raccoon tested positive for rabies.
This is the tenth rabid animal reported in Middlesex County for 2018 and the second rabid animal reported in the Township.

Residents should report wild animals showing signs of unusual behavior to the South Brunswick Police Department. Additionally, it is recommended that residents should avoid contact with wild animals and immediately report any bites from wild or domestic animals to your local health department and consult a physician as soon as possible. Finally, be sure that all family pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations and licenses.
