Tucker has been instrumental in urging the council to bring an ordinance declaring the Slack –Carroll House a historic landmark. On Tuesday, Tucker got his wish, when the ordinance was introduced for first reading.

“I have to be a blind guy not to notice that your spirit and your thoughtfulness has illuminated the work that the Dayton Village Citizens Coalition has done for 20 years,” Mayor Charlie Carley said.

Carley also thanked everyone on the DVCC for their work with the Slack-Carroll House and for helping the town bring the ordinance.

In the past, Tucker served on the Open Space Committee and the Mapleton Preserve Board. He also helped in the development of many non-profit environmental groups like the Watershed Institute and served on many environmental boards like the Pinelands Preservation Alliance.

“Rob has devoted his life to service,” Councilwoman Jo Hochman said.

Tucker thanked the Council for moving forward with the ordinance and for bestowing him with the honor. "My 45 years in this township have been a wonderful time,” he said.
