Road Closures In South Brunswick As Ridge Road Project Begins

Starting Wednesday, improvements on Ridge Road will begin. Here are the road closures ahead:

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Township is all set to big the Ridge Road project, and as a result, many roads will be closed to traffic in the next few days.

On Wednesday, crews will begin milling Ridge Road. The road will be closed to traffic between Freedom Trail and Monmouth Drive from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic access to all homes and businesses in this area will be available, but limited due to the moving nature of the procedure. Access to Ridge Road from both sides of New Road will be limited as well.

Paving begins on Thursday. Traffic between Freedom Trail and Monmouth Drive will be closed once again. There will be limited access to the construction area, and the roadway will be sprayed with a liquid asphalt tack coating prior to paving. Officials have asked residents not to drive on the tack coat or the roadway until after the paving is completed for the day. Also, vehicles cannot be parked on the street during that time.

The Township will be posting and officers will be available to assist residents. Officials have asked residents to follow all road signs and obey the direction of police officers and other traffic control personnel. Use Route 522 as an alternative to getting around the area, officials said.

Although the Township released this plan Tuesday morning, it is subject to change based on weather conditions.
