4 Rescued After Slipping Off Pipe At Jersey Shore Beach
The four were walking on an outfall pipe two hours after lifeguards had gone off duty when one fell into the ocean, officials said.
WILDWOOD, NJ — Four had to be rescued from an outfall pipe at a Wildwood beach after hours when one slipped into the ocean, according to officials.
The four were walking on the rainwater outfall line at 7:20 p.m. on June 25, the Wildwood Beach Patrol said. Lifeguards there are only on duty until 5:30 p.m.
"There were three people that had walked out on the pipe and there was a fourth that had fallen off and she was in the water being held by someone who was on the pipe," Connor Gallagher, one of the lifeguards on call, told 6abc News.

Wildwood Beach Patrol is using this to remind everyone to stay away from pipes and outfall lines, which carry stormwater out to the ocean.
Nearby, neon signs urge beachgoers to "keep out," away from the "dangerous" pipes.
Lifeguards also continue to urge beachgoers to only swim or enter the ocean when they are on duty.
