SBPAL Supports the South Brunswick Community

COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND ATHLETIC EXCELLENCE IN 2015

The South Brunswick Police Athletic League is best known for its high caliber youth athletic programs. Our primary goals include teaching program fundamentals and providing a fun atmosphere where all athletes can learn and grow. However, at SBPAL we also work towards goals that you may not be as familiar with.

Through our SBPAL programs, we hope to set an example for our young athletes through not just our words but our actions as well.

On the field, mat, and court; we regularly ask our athletes to think about others, show kindness, and above all else be a team player. We cannot ask this of our children, without showing that we live by the same standards. Therefore in an effort to model strong moral character and be a contributing member of the South Brunswick community, we created deliberate, large-scale efforts to give back.

In 2015 SBPAL programs, families, volunteers, and board members:

  • donated towards the purchase of holiday gifts for over 100 low-income S.B. students (in conjunction with the Viking Athletic Club)
  • donated 200 items towards a school supply collection for low-income SB students to help them prepare to head Back to School
  • collected large amounts of food for the SB Food Pantry
  • provided Thanksgiving dinner to families in need
  • donated gas gift cards to SB families experiencing medical emergencies
  • provided scholarships for our programs to families experiencing financial hardships
  • honored and showed support for a Pop Warner family from a neighboring town as their child battled cancer
  • provided college scholarship to SBHS students who exemplify our program values

In 2016, we will continue to offer high quality instruction through our basketball, wrestling, lacrosse, PW football, cheer, and flag football programs. However, it will remain equally as important for us to continue supporting our neighbors and serving our community. Please share this message with your child. All of our families, coaches, players, and volunteers played a part in our efforts this year. We are grateful for your support and look forward to another great year of service! Best wishes for 2016 to all of our families!
