Season Ends for South Brunswick Basketball

Both the girls' and the boys' basketball teams came to season-ending defeats Saturday.

South Brunswick, NJ - Both the girls' and the boys' basketball teams came to season-ending defeats Saturday.

No. 2 seed Colts Neck beat the No. 3 seed South Brunswick Vikings, 67-47, at the NJSIAA Central Group IV semifinal game. The game was played at Colts Neck High School.

“I just think they were a lot more physical than we were. It is just basketball, so I’m sure we got away with stuff and they got away with stuff,” South Brunswick coach Joseph Hoehman told the Asbury Park Press. “But there was a lot of pulling and grabbing going on, and we couldn’t get our guys off screens to get good looks. And then when we did get good looks, we just didn’t make shots today.”

“We were excited to play them; we had an excellent practice (Friday),” coach Jeff Johnson told TAP Into. “The girls were excited to play them. I don’t think there was any ‘we can’t do this.’ They wanted to be here tonight, and in the end, we just didn’t take care of the ball.”

The girls team lost 60-39 against the Monroe Falcons.
