South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy: Apply Now For Fall 2019

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2019 South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy. Applications MUST be submitted by August 14.
The Academy will give community members a behind-the-scenes look at policing. As part of the class, a dozen officers and detectives will share their perspective and insights into the daily workings of the police department.
The Academy will offer training on a range of law enforcement topics including motor vehicle laws, criminal law and use of force. In addition, citizens will learn about crime scene processing, defensive tactics and internal affairs. The Academy will culminate with a day of practical exercises where students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes and other realistic scenarios.

The Academy will start on September 4. Classes will be held every Wednesday night in the training center at police headquarters for 11 weeks from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. There will be no class on November 6. Graduation from the Academy is set for November 20.
The Academy size is limited, so residents are encouraged to complete their application as soon as possible. In order to be admitted into the Academy community members must complete an application and go through a screening process.
