South Brunswick To Finish School Year Without Schedule Change
The district will not be bringing back more children to classrooms for the "remainder of the school year."
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — At the recently-held Board of Education meeting, school Superintendent Scott Feder said there will be no change to the school schedule for the “remainder of the school year.”
With the number of COVID-19 positive cases decreasing, many parents hoped the district would bring back more children to classrooms. But Feder said that would not be possible.
“At this point, everyone's on waiting lists. And there's just nothing else we can do about that,” Feder said at the BOE meeting held on April 29.

“At this point, we cannot add more kids to the point where we'd have to cohort the kids, or cut the days into half days. So, we're kind of stuck in this mode right now.”
Middle school and high school schedules will remain unchanged — students will go home from in-person class, and finish their day at home, while virtual students will remain virtual.

As for next year, 2021-22, the school district said it was “still waiting” on information from the state.
Feder said the district will be doing forums with parents.
“The only thing that's been stated so far about next year... that there'll be no virtual learning. But that's the only thing anyone has heard at this point,” said Feder.
“Until we hear more, we're not ready to start having those conversations.”
The district will be putting out surveys soon and hopes to get all children back in school for the next year.
Feder also said the high school graduation ceremony will be taking place this year, as will prom. Information on both will be sent out soon.
“Things are going to happen for kids,” said Feder.
“And as far as events at the end of the year, there will not be nearly what we normally do. But hopefully, we'll be able to do some level of events that kids are used to, just to give them something special before the year is over.”
