South Brunswick Man Charged With Royal Oaks Shooting

He shot an 18-year-old Monmouth Junction man, say police, who was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A local South Brunswick man has been charged with Sunday afternoon's shooting in the Royal Oaks apartment complex, the Middlesex County prosecutor announced.

Jahmil Alvarez, 19, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick was arrested Sunday night and charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, both second-degree crimes.

He shot an 18-year-old Monmouth Junction man Sunday afternoon inside the Royal Oaks development, say police. The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and treated for gunshot wounds.
