South Brunswick Mayor, Council Announce National Night Out Aug. 1

National Night Out aims to foster better relations and communication between the community and law enforcement.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick will be joining thousands of communities across the country to celebrate National Night Out on Aug. 1

The National Night Out promotes “cooperative, police/community crime prevention efforts.” The announcement was made by Mayor Charlie Carley and the South Brunswick Township Council.

“We’re fortunate that we’ve always had excellent relations between our police department and citizens but National Night Out helps reinforce the importance of that relationship as we all work to keep our community safe, and secure,” Councilwoman Archana “Ann” Grover said in a statement.

“National Night Out is also an excellent opportunity for residents to come together in one central location to partake in fun activities designed to educate, entertain, and foster an even greater sense of community.”

This year’s National Night Out will take place in Rowland Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Festivities will include food, rides, climbing towers, inflatables, games, and prizes.

There will be displays by police, fire departments, EMS, Public Works, and FBI.

Be prepared for sports field demonstrations, interactive activities, and a tug-of-war contest between police, fire, and EMS personnel.

Displays on healthy living activities by community partners in the Municipal Alliance’s Community Unity Day Pavilion. There will also be music and dance demonstrations on the stage.

The events are free for the public.
