South Brunswick Plans To Advance Phase 2 Of Richard Road Improvements
South Brunswick hired CME Associates to oversee drainage, curbing, and paving on Richard Road after completing water main upgrades.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK — The township council is set to vote Wednesday on a contract worth up to $174,500 with CME Associates to oversee the next phase of road improvements on Richard Road, a dead-end residential street off Route 1 South.
The contract, on the agenda for the April 1 work session, would cover construction administration services for drainage, curbing, milling, and paving work that makes up the second and final phase of improvements to the road. CME Associates, which was appointed township engineer in January, previously provided consulting engineering services during Phase 1 of the project.
Phase 1, completed last year, involved the installation of approximately 1,900 linear feet of 8-inch cement-lined ductile iron water main, fire hydrants, valves, and roughly 28 water services running from Route 1 to the dead end of the road. That work was carried out by MSP Construction Corp. of Flemington.

The Phase 2 roadway work is funded through a 2025 bond ordinance that allocated $1,722,001 for Richard Road improvements as part of a broader capital program. The CME Associates contract would be awarded without competitive bidding as a professional service under state law.
Funds for the contract were certified as available by Chief Financial Officer Samantha Rampacek.
