South Brunswick Reports 107 New COVID-19 Cases, 7 Deaths
Officials said the seven confirmed fatalities mark the most deaths from COVID-19 in a week's time in the township.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – On Tuesday, South Brunswick reported 107 new COVID-19 cases and seven related deaths for the week of Jan. 3 to 9.
Officials said the seven fatalities are the most recorded number deaths over the course of the pandemic for the township. The total number of fatalities now stands at 45.
Several of the new COVID-19 cases are connected to an outbreak at a long-term care facility. According to the Department of Heath Brandywine Living at Princeton, which is in South Brunswick, recorded 35 cases (20 residents, 15 staff) and five confirmed deaths.

According to township officials, the new positive cases represents an 18 percent increase from the week before. Officials said this was also the second largest number of cases reported in a single week, since the pandemic began.
The increase in number of COVID-19 cases started in the first week of December and have continued into January, said officials.

Despite the rollout of vaccines, officials have asked residents to remain cautious and continue wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
