South Brunswick Reports 26 New COVID Cases From Last Week

Officials say this is the highest number of new cases since early May.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick is once again seeing COVID cases in double digits, with 26 new cases reported last week.

“This is the highest number of new cases since early May,” the office of Emergency Management said in a statement. Although this is a change from recent trends, during which South Brunswick was mostly in the single-digits, officials said they look for trends over several weeks to show emerging patterns.

The average age of the 26 people who tested positive last week was 42 years. Fifteen were male and 11 were female. Officials said they were informed of 11 additional cases from previous weeks, which brings the total number of COVID positive cases to 644.

Once again, the reason for increase in cases has been attributed to community spread within family groups. “...Meaning that efforts to quarantine from the community at large were effective, but the virus still spread throughout their individual households,” officials said in the statement.

No new deaths were reported.
