SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — After a tough school year marked by pandemic upheavals, South Brunswick School District is giving its students an evening to socialize with peers.
On Thursday night the district announced details for prom and graduation ceremonies.
Senior prom is scheduled for June 5 at The Grand Marquis, Old Bridge. The indoor event is offering two seating options — 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

School superintendent Scott Feder told Patch he was “psyched to be able to provide these milestone experiences for our students and families.”
In-person graduation is scheduled for June 22, at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
The entire Class of 2021, along with family/friends can attend, said the school district. Each graduate will be given four tickets to the ceremony. Seating will be assigned, and tickets will be numbered. Due to social distancing rules, guests must sit in their assigned seats.
“Since the start of the school year, we have been working hard to make this as memorable of a time in your life as we possibly can,” the district said in a message to parents and guardians.
“We have been hoping all along that the Governor’s Executive Orders, as well as the NJ Department of Health’s regulations, would give us guidance about hosting in-person large events.”
Gov. Phil Murphy recently increased indoor gathering capacities to 50 percent, with a maximum of 250 individuals beginning Friday.
Additionally, dance floors will be allowed to open at private events like school proms, with mask-wearing and social distancing in place.
