South Brunswick Sees 'Anticipated' Decline In COVID Cases

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Health officials in South Brunswick said they’re “finally beginning to see” anticipated decline in COVID-19 cases across the township.

Last week, the township recorded the lowest weekly total of new cases since the middle of last September, prior to the beginning of the second wave.

South Brunswick reported 18 new cases of residents testing positive for COVID-19 last week. No coronavirus-related deaths were reported.

Nine women and nine men tested positive for COVID-19 with five people being under the age of 18.

"The combined statistics of a low weekly total number of cases, the lowest state hospitalization rate since late October, and a high percentage of our eligible residents being fully vaccinated all indicate that our community is doing what it needs to do to battle the pandemic,” health officials said.

Despite “encouraging signs,” officials cautioned unvaccinated residents and those in high-risk groups and asked them to continue taking CDC-recommended safety precautions.
