South Brunswick Sees 'Dramatic Increase' In COVID Cases: OEM
From Dec. 31 to Jan. 5, over 500 COVID-19 positive cases were reported, the OEM said. New testing date released.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Over the past week, COVID-19 cases continue to spike in the Township, according to the South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management (OEM).
From Dec. 31 to Jan. 5 South Brunswick saw a dramatic increase in cases with more than 500 additional cases reported. This mirrors trends occurring around the state, the OEM said.
In the last 24 hours, the township reported 168 positive cases, according to Middlesex County COVID-19 dashboard. Monday saw the highest number of cases being reported - 319.

Federal officials are meanwhile bracing for U.S. infections to jump in January 2022, with numbers that could top 500,000 new cases per day, the OEM said. Officials hope that the peak of the omicron wave will be over by early February. Health officials believe the most challenging times will be the next four to five weeks.
