South Brunswick's 4th Of July Fireworks 2019 Are Wednesday Night

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on in South Brunswick this Independence Day. And South Brunswick is ready to rock! The town already has their entire July 4, 2019 party planned:

The South Brunswick Independence Day Celebration will take place this Wednesday, July 3 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the fields of Crossroads Middle School. The school is located on the corner of Major Road and Kingston Lane. The program begins at 6:00 p.m. and the fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.

Rain date set for Friday, July 5.

This free event will have live music, food vendors, and fireworks. The event is annually one of the largest Township sponsored gatherings.

South Brunswick Police are advising residents that there will be increased traffic in and around the school and surrounding neighborhoods. The streets of Major Road, Kingston Lane and Georges Road will have increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Officers will be stationed in and around the event to assist with traffic issues.There will be no parking allowed on Major Road, Kingston Lane or Georges Road. Police anticipate the greatest volume of traffic between 7:30pmand 10pm. Fireworks are scheduled to go off at 9:15pm.

The primary location for parking will be Crossroads South Middle School parking lots off Kingston Lane. There will be no general parking at the Crossroads North parking lots off Georges Road. Additional parking will be at the South Brunswick Public Library and the Municipal Complex

East Brunswick: East Brunswick's fireworks will go from 4-10 p.m. on Thursday, July 4 at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center, 721 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, NJ (rain date July 5)

New Brunswick: Here's what's in store this July 4th in New Brunswick:

On Wednesday, July 3 "Captain America" will be shown as part of New Brunswick's free summer movies. The movie begins at 6:30 p.m. at the State Theatre NJ.

Also on July 3: New Brunswick's fireworks festivities begin at 6 p.m. at Boyd Park on the Raritan River. They will have two bands performing - Tempo Allegre, a Latin band, and Discoteks, a pop band. Fireworks are scheduled to go at 9:15 p.m. over the river. Admission is free, attendees may bring blankets and chairs to sit on. Food will be for sale, and they will have an inflatable amusement as an activity for children.

Thursday, July 4th will feature an Independence Day celebration of local history at Buccleuch Park. The event goes from 1-5 p.m. and will feature a ribbon cutting at the recently-renovated Buccleuch Mansion, plus tours of the mansion, a live reading of the Declaration of Independence, patriotic music, a Geocaching activity and a re-enactment of George Washington's "feu de joie" (Fire of Joy) salute. Dr. David Martin of Friends of Monmouth Battlefield will give a talk on the significance of the salute before the cannon fire begins. Admission is free and participants are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to sit on and picnic in Buccleuch Park. Food and ice cream will also be available for purchase.

The original New Brunswick feu de joie on July 4, 1778 entailed a two-mile line of soldiers from Sonman’s Hill (now Douglass Campus at Rutgers University) to the White Farm (now Buccleuch Park) and a nearby artillery park. Washington ordered its performance in New Brunswick to celebrate the Army’s performance at the Monmouth County Courthouse (now Freehold) against a British attack and commemorate the second anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
