The Mission of the Cultural and Heritage Commission

Part three of a three-part column.

The Cultural and Heritage Commission is comprised of people who show a high level of care about the projects of the Commission and the projects of individuals and groups within our county.

They also encourage volunteers to participate in various programs. The Folk Life Program for NJ concentrates on preservations of folk traditions throughout the County. They also support the National VSA arts with a local program called VSA Arts of NJ, which promotes art education, especially for those with disabilities.

The program uses artists, educators, therapists and volunteers. The e-classroom supports those who are applying for grants, supports cultural diversity and my favorite: the History Buffs Guide to Middlesex County.

The Commission seeks to assist and educate anyone who has an interest in local history or cultural heritages. My desire is to encourage readers to visit historic sites or seek more education on various subjects. The Commission is a great place to start when you have no idea how. They have guided me many times and I always count on them for solid guidance when needed.
