Track Bird Populations On Saturday In South Brunswick

Attendees can enjoy birding while contributing to global bird conservation efforts.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County Master Gardeners will be hosting the 2026 Great Backyard Bird Count on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Davidson's Mill Pond Park.

This event offers an opportunity to enjoy birding while contributing to global bird conservation efforts.

The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual citizen science initiative organized by the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Participants help track bird populations by observing and recording the birds they see, with all data submitted to the Cornell University database to support conservation research worldwide.

The event will begin at the Middlesex County EARTH Center, located inside Davidson's Mill Pond Park at 42 Riva Ave. Attendees will enjoy a continental breakfast and receive instructions on how to participate before heading out to explore the park. Participants may join a guided tour or venture out independently.

Attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars and dress appropriately for outdoor hiking. Registration is appreciated, but not required. To register, call 732-398-5262.
