Troop 90 Welcomes Its Newest Eagle

In a ceremony held on October 29, 2016, Troop 90 of Kendall Park honored Wyatt Kearns, the Troop’s 85th scout to obtain this rank since the Troop’s inception in 1963.

Wyatt joined Cub Scouts in 1st grade before crossing over into Boy Scouts where he received his Arrow of Light. During his scouting journey, he participated in many camping and hiking trips, including Jockey Hollow. In July of 2014, Wyatt attended National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) at Quaill Hill Scout Reservation. He attained the Les Siess award and the World Conservation Award. He has earned 35 Merit Badges and has held many leadership roles within his Troop such as Librarian, Scribe, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Troop Guide.

For his Eagle Project, Wyatt chose to build and install owl and bat boxes for Sondek Park. Their purpose is to serve as insect and rodent control as well as giving the animals a place to live and raise their young.

Wyatt recently graduated from Middlesex County Vocational High School in the top 15% of his class where he studied Digital Filmmaking for 4 years. He is currently attending Mercer County Community College where he will be working toward his Associates Degree in Digital Filmmaking.

Wyatt is active in lending himself to his neighborhood community in maintaining the development’s food pantry and helping elderly neighbors with their gardening needs. The road to becoming an Eagle has taught him many valuable lessons that he will continue to use throughout his adult life.
