WATCH: Baby's Amazing Rescue From North Brunswick Fire
Video shows bystanders shouting at a terrified mother to drop her baby from a burning balcony into the arms of a police officer.
Tina Zaccagna, a North Brunswick woman who lives across the street from where the Hidden Lake three-alarm fire broke out Tuesday captured this dramatic video of a woman trapped on a balcony with her baby. Both mother and baby survived, but tragically, the family dog and cat died in the fire.
In the videos, the woman, identified in the media as Natalia Wahad, can be heard screaming for help as the fire rages.
Incredibly, you hear bystanders tell her to drop the baby from the second-floor balcony, as she had no other means of escape. You can even hear Zaccagna telling the woman to jump from the burning building.

“It was terrifying to witness,” said Zaccagna. “I kept thinking the structure would collapse before she jumped, or she would succumb to the smoke.”
Wahad did drop her 10-month-old infant, who was caught by North Brunswick Police Officer Nate Nicholson. And then she herself jumped, and was also caught by Nicholson.

Mother and baby fell a distance of about 12 to 15 feet, Zaccagna estimates. Both were transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure, authorities told Patch.
“He caught the baby first, then her,” said Zaccagna. “She was in shock. Let me tell you, I was shaken to my core watching it unfold. It was very scary.”
Wahad’s cat and dog, Mozart, are thought to have both perished in the fire, North Brunswick officials confirmed, as neither animal can be located. You can hear a dog barking in the video.
“I interacted with her briefly after they got her down,” said Zaccagna. ”She told me, ‘My pets are in there, my pets are in there,’ and she was very shaken and upset.”
“We all felt bad knowing her pets were in there, but even firefighters couldn’t go in at that point. The whole place was an inferno,” continued Zaccagna. “She was so distraught.”
Officer Nicholson is being hailed as a hero. “That police officer was amazing!” said Zaccagna.
Zaccagna said she will never forget what she witnessed Tuesday.
“Trust me, I didn’t have a fire escape plan and we have one now,” she told Patch.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Keep reading Patch for more updates.
