Who Was the Prophet Muhammad?

A lecture about the Prophet Muhammad by Princeton University Imam Sohaib Sultan at South Brunswick Public Library on March 1.

Attend a lecture about Prophet Muhammad, Islam’s final messenger, by Sohaib Sultan, Imam and Muslim Life Program Coordinator at Princeton University. It is being presented by the South Brunswick Human Relations Commission and the South Brunswick Public Library. Like most programs at SBPL, sponsorship is provided by the Friends of the Library.

The lecture begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 at the Library. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

The lecture will focus on the life, teachings, and legacy of the Prophet Muhammad, as well as explore how his message is being interpreted in today’s world, explaining how the Prophet compares to other historical religious figures.

Exploring other religions, such as Islam, demonstrates the theme of the 2015 South Brunswick Reads program Building Bridges. This community-wide reading program uses a different theme each year to encourage literacy across all ages and cultures living in the Township. It is presented through a partnership between the Library and the South Brunswick School District.

Sultan is the first full-time Muslim Life Coordinator and Chaplain at Princeton University.

Sultan is the author of various books and publications, including The Koran for Dummies, part of the well-known for Dummies series by Wiley Publishing Inc., and The Qur’an and Sayings of Prophet Muhammad: Selection Annotated and Explained. He has traveled throughout the United States, the Middle East, and Europe to promote mutual respect and understanding.

The South Brunswick Human Relations Commission works to foster, through community efforts and other means, good will, cooperation and conciliation among the diverse cultures which are represented within the Township.
