'Will See Better Days’: South Brunswick Mayor On Capitol Riots
Mayor Charlie Carley said he was glad to see representatives 'doing their duty' and certify the elections after a day of chaos.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick Mayor Charlie Carley released a statement Thursday morning, after a pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.
Carley said it was heartening to see elected representatives certify the elections after a day of chaos.
“This morning, the United States Congress is certifying the vote for the Office of President. After a day of chaos, it is heartening that our elected Representatives are doing their duty in accordance with the instructions of our Constitution,” said Carley.

A pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol to halt the Electoral College certification of Joe Biden as the next president. Members of Congress were evacuated but resumed the electoral count at 8 p.m. ET.
Carley said he grew up with men like his father, his parish priest and neighbors who experienced the Great Depression and served in Korea and Vietnam.

“I do not believe for a moment that they would have stomached yesterday’s shenanigans. They were proud Americans. They held our country dearly. They fought for the country. They bled for it. They had nightmares over it,” said Carley.
“That is Our Heritage. Ours to Win or Lose,” he said.
Carley ended his statement on a hopeful note, saying, “We; if we Persevere in our Loyalty to our Nation, our Constitution, our Institutions and the Promise of a more Perfect Union - We will see better and prouder days.”
